The Weber-supplied tubes will "work" but good ones will sound better. By the way, I'm not down on Weber at all - I've bought a couple of his kits which I've used as the basis of a couple of amps (with the upgrades mentioned above, which adds quite a bit to the cost), but I've built a lot of them and don't need advice or help doing it.

A bunch of other Weber attenuators that feature impedance switching seem to accomplish this sort of thing by putting a big resistor of 2 times the desired impedance going to ground right before the dummy speaker coil. Next question: Weber's Vintage 10A100 looks identical to the Sig specs (both 7oz, 1" voice coil, 15 watt),..but 2X the price! What would the difference be with these two speakers?
