I saw something about level 5 Auxiliary Troopers, which apparently are fully-sworn, and can perform all of the regular duties of an FHP Trooper, including traffic stops and crashes. Does anyone have insight or know any additional details about this program? Thank you.

FHP= Florida Highway Patrol.... All they handle is traffic accidents and tickets for the most part they are assigned to most of the major highways and state roads in florida and thats all they do pretty much. They are the keepers of the Highways and are resposible for the highway statistics.

- I am already certifiable (I graduated the police academy several months ago). I understand there is a 4-week course for those who get hired by FHP who have already completed a basic academy. What does this 4 week academy entail? Is it the same para-military structure as the regular academy, or more laid back? 2.

Having said that, FHP just submitted a huge pay increase to the legislature and so far they have had pretty positive feedback. Our governor is a pro law enforcement governor and has recognized that we are way behind in pay.

FHP literally makes 1/3 of these depts at top-out. I suppose if you really love the idea of being a trooper, and money isn't an object, it makes sense.
